What does a thyroid gland examination entail?
On the day of your visit you will be seen by our nurse who will check your personal details. Please remember to bring your health insurance card. You will meet with your thyroid gland specialist. You will be thoroughly questioned about your symptoms, your neck will be palpated and an ultrasound examination will be performed of the anterior soft tissues of the neck, especially the thyroid gland. A comprehensive discussion of the preliminary findings follows. Afterwards, blood will be drawn and your pulse, blood pressure and body weight will be measured. In a few cases an additional scintigraphic functional examination or a fine needle biopsy are required.
How long does all of this take?
You should schedule 60 minutes for the entire examination. Please be on time for your appointment.
A comprehensive report of the findings
will be sent to you / your family doctor usually within 5 working days. The report of the findings contains the diagnosis, all test results and recommendations for treatment and follow-up examinations.
